The event held by Toni Dove was something very interesting to me. The way light can be used to make art is something that I have rarely seen used but makes more sense after listening to her talk about it. Light is a material that is always available and nearly free to use however you want to use it. Yet people still do not use it. This first piece examined was a very simple piece but carried a lot of weight to it. The way the shapes moved so gracefully is what made me wonder about the future of light technology in terms of the art world. The availability of light is something that, when paired with technology, can create some amazing pieces. We saw Toni explain the light tracking that went on through the movements made, and I think this is a great example of what can happen. By connecting light to motion cameras, she was able to draw or paint without actually using either material.
